Costing a process before and after AI
29 August 2026 · 5 min read
It is easy to say a process got faster. It is harder, and far more convincing, to show the number: hours per week before, hours after, the cost of the tools, and the cost of the mistakes it introduces.
Count the whole picture, not just the happy path. A tool that saves five hours but adds a checking step, or occasionally produces an error someone has to unwind, has a real net figure that is often smaller than the headline.
A quantified before-and-after is what turns "this feels better" into a decision a business can stand behind. It is also the discipline that keeps you honest about changes that only looked good in theory.
