Common questions
01 Do I need to know how to code? Is this only for engineers?
No, and no. We do not teach programming, you will not need it, and this is not a programme only for computer-science or engineering graduates. AI now handles the technical execution, the code, the analysis, the first draft. What is scarce is the person who can read a business process, see where it leaks time and money, and rebuild it. Graduates from commerce, law, the arts, science or any other field are exactly who this is for, as long as you are willing to do the work.
02 Will I get a job at the end?
No. We offer no job, no offer, no placement and no interview, and we do not promise any level of income or job-readiness. If you are looking for a guaranteed route into employment, this programme is not designed for that.
03 How is this different from an internship?
An internship usually pays a token wage, treats you as a junior who waits to be told what to do, and quietly implies a permanent job that rarely arrives. This is built the other way around. You invest in yourself, you are handed real problems inside live products the group runs, and you work next to AI that is already in production. Nothing is promised, no job, no placement, no income. What you pay for is the real environment and the practitioners around it, at an operator’s level of responsibility rather than a junior entrant’s.
04 Is the certificate a recognised qualification?
No. It records your dates, your supervisor and the work you did. It is not a degree, a diploma or a certification approved by any authority, and it should not be described as one.
05 Is the fee refundable?
No. Once you are admitted, the fee is not refundable in any circumstance: whether you do not attend, attend in part, withdraw at any point, or are removed from the programme. The only exception is if we fail to run or deliver the programme, in which case you choose between a refund and a place in the next cohort. You acknowledge this separately, in writing, when you pay.
06 Why so firm on refunds?
In-office seats are limited, and holding one for you means turning someone else away. A place taken and then left empty is a place another person would have used. We would rather you took the decision seriously before paying than found later that it was not the right fit.
07 Do you offer EMI or a loan?
No. The fee is paid from your own resources, and we do not offer, arrange or recommend any loan, EMI or education finance for it. If paying it would stretch you, we would honestly rather you waited until it would not.
08 Can my parents speak to you about my application?
No. Everyone on this programme is an adult and we deal with you directly. We do not correspond with parents, guardians or anyone else about admission, fees, conduct, assessment or withdrawal.
09 So who actually teaches?
Nobody, in the classroom sense. There is no syllabus and no lecture. Mentors are available to you on a committed schedule with committed response times, and they answer what you ask. What you take from it grows with the questions you ask, and we would rather be honest about that up front than promise something else.
10 Then what am I paying for?
Mentor availability at a stated frequency, stated response times, access to our internal AI tools and working environment, a defined output for every module reviewed and returned with written feedback, a written record of what you built, and a certificate. Those are commitments, and they are in the agreement.
11 Will I work on real client projects?
No. You work on our own internal tools and on internal workflows we approve for programme use. You will not have access to client files, client systems, personal data or anything confidential. Whether you are given simulated work or live internal work is our decision, based on what best fits your progress at the time.
12 Who owns what I build?
We do. Work you produce on programme assignments belongs to the company. Anything you build independently, on your own time and without our resources, stays yours. You can describe the kind of work you did in your CV.
13 Who is behind this?
Practitioners who have built and shipped products rather than taught about them. Before you apply, look at theassetlight.com, which lists what the group has actually built, including ventures still at a pre-revenue stage. We would encourage you to look before you pay, rather than after.
14 How do I get in?
After you apply, you take a short qualifying test as a chat. It checks whether you can work at the level this programme runs at. Qualify and you get a link to pay and confirm your place; if you do not qualify yet, you get an honest assessment and can apply again in six months. Selection is on ability and self-direction. Paying does not get you a seat and being able to pay does not influence the decision. If you are not selected you pay nothing.
15 Can I set my own hours?
No. Programme hours are 09:00 to 18:00, Monday to Saturday, and office protocols apply to you as they do to everyone else. Paying a fee does not change that. Attendance is recorded and affects your certificate.
16 Do I need my own laptop?
Yes. This is a bring-your-own-device programme: you work on your own laptop throughout. We provide access to our internal AI tools and working environment, not the hardware. Your device must be in good working order, kept up to date and reasonably secured, and you follow our access and security rules while connected. You do not download, copy or keep the group’s internal tools, code or data on your device, and you will not have access to client work or client data.
17 Who is this actually for?
People who intend to run something of their own one day, whatever they studied, and need to understand what AI changes about what a small team can do. It suits the self-directed from any discipline, and is probably not the right fit if you would prefer to be taught.
