Building AI-native operations from Nairobi
20 September 2026 · 5 min read
The usual story about a market like Kenya or Rwanda is one of catching up, adopting tools that matured somewhere else. That framing misses the opportunity. A business built now does not have decades of legacy process to unwind.
That is an advantage. When you are designing an operation from a clean sheet, you can put AI where the work actually is from day one, rather than bolting it onto a process shaped by how things were done before the tools existed.
The judgement is the same everywhere: find where the business leaks time and money, and rebuild that step. What changes in East Africa is how little you have to tear down first.
